General Rules of Crime Prevention
Create a neighborhood environment in which you look out for each other
Never let a stranger into your home (i.e., to use phone, wait for a ride, get gas money, etc.)
Post your street number in a highly visible location (Mailbox and Front Door) Keep your residence well-lit
Invest in Automatic Timers for Interior Lights ($20)
Stop Mail and Paper Delivery while away from home overnight
Vary your routine (don’t get into a predictable pattern)
Leave a key with a trusted neighbor instead of hidden outside
FENCES, DOGS, ALARMS, and POSTED SIGNAGE. Post signs such as:
- Beware of Dog
- Protected by ADT
- No Trespassing
Cell Phones (always have one nearby, even in the
home)
