History
In 1995 the Sheriff's Office purchased two dogs, one for the purpose of narcotics detection and the other for tracking criminals and lost persons. In 1996 the Sheriff expanded the unit to include the first cross trained dog to be utilized by both Narcotics and Patrol Divisions. Since that time the Unit has grown to six dogs, four are assigned to Patrol while the remaining two work with Narcotics and Interstate Criminal Enforcement.
