The Cleveland County Health Department Family Planning Unit provides comprehensive educational, medical and social services to assist in the management of fertility (preventing or achieving pregnancy). Fees may be charged for services provided which include:

  • Education for family planning patients regarding anatomy, abstinence, contraceptive methods, sexuality, pre-conceptional fertility awareness and sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Safe and effective contraceptive methods including birth control pills, foam, condoms, diaphragms, nuva ring, depo-provera, IUD, natural family planning and referral for tubal sterilization and vasectomy.
  • Initial and annual physicals with evaluation of problems and patient referral as necessary, postpartum services.
  • Colposcopies and cryosurgery for early diagnosis and treatment of abnormal Pap smears.
  • Pregnancy tests and counseling for planned as well as unplanned pregnancies.
  • Infertility services including education, counseling and referral.
  • Outreach and follow-up for patients with problems as well as those who miss their six week postpartum check-up.
  • Clinic physician services
  • Social worker available for counseling services.
