The Environmental Health Unit of Cleveland County Health Department operates and maintains the Landfill and the Animal Shelter for the citizens of Cleveland County.

LANDFILL PROGRAM
The Landfill Sites (Click me)provides safe and sanitary disposal of all solid waste within the county, and complies with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Tours of the facilities are available for anyone who is interested.

Recycling Program

The recycling program operates eight manned solid waste / recycling as well as
two "recycling only" collection sites throughout the county. These manned sites
provide convenient recycling and solid waste disposal opportunities for the
citizens of Cleveland County. Other services of the recycling program include:

  1. providing public education on recycling and waste management;
  2. assisting groups or individuals in the county to develop recycling programs
    to meet their specific needs or circumstances.

  • Scrap Metal: Clean Metal, Steel Beverage Cans - any size, Steel Food Cans -any size, Used Metal - any type. No Glass, Liquids, Storm Windows, Dirty Cans, Paint Cans, Burn Barrels, 55-Gallon Drums or Larger, Auto Gas Tanks.
  • Motor Oils: Motor Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Transmission Fluid. No water in Fluids, Brake Fluids, Solvents, Paint Thinner
  • Tires: Passenger Tires, Truck Tires, Tires larger than 11"x24.5" will not be accepted. (Tire disposer must be a Cleveland County Resident)
