MOBILE HOME PERMIT AND INSPECTION

Permits must be obtained by the person or firm that is setting the home. The permit may only be issued to the owner-occupant if they are doing the actual setup. The permit includes the setup, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical (if required) inspections.

SETUP INSPECTION

Tie Downs

Grading under and around home.

ELECTRICAL INSPECTION

Electrical connection needs to be completed by a NC licensed electrical contractor or by the owner-occupant.

This inspection requires access to the service panel inside the home.

PLUMBING INSPECTION

DWV System completed by a NC licensed plumber or by the owner-occupant. Leave the connection to the tank uncovered on a new system.

Water service line installed. DO NOT COVER.

Only a single connection, under the home to the building sewer or to an existing water line, is permissible for the setup contractor to connect.

MECHANICAL INSPECTION

Any HVAC system that is not installed at the factory must be installed by a NC licensed mechanical contractor or by the owner -occupant.

Before Scheduling an inspection make sure:

All contractors have called our office to verify completion of work.

Handrails are on all sets of steps that exceed 30 inches or five steps or more.

Landings larger than a 3'x3', and are 30 inches above grade require guardrails and pickets not more than 4 inches apart.

Home has two means of egress with proper steps.
