Upcoming Cleveland County Rabies Clinic – Saturday, April 27th, 2024

SHELBY,
N.C- Cleveland County Animal Services will be hosting a Rabies Clinic on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Cleveland County Health Department located at 200 S. Post Road, Shelby, NC 28150. Rabies vaccinations are free with proof of Cleveland County residency, which includes a rabies license, and $10 for out-of-county residents.

Services are limited to the first 1,000 animals and four pets per vehicle. Three-year vaccines will be available for pets that have had a previous rabies vaccination.

In accordance with NC State Law, all dogs, cats, and ferrets must be kept currently vaccinated against rabies and must wear a rabies tag. Cats are the most commonly identified domestic animal with rabies.

Anyone who sees an animal demonstrating unusual behavior should call Cleveland County Animal Services at 704-481-9884.  If vaccinated pets are exposed to rabies, they should receive a booster dose of rabies vaccine at the time of exposure. If pets are not vaccinated when exposed, the animal will be euthanized or quarantined for six months per state law.

If you are unable to attend the Rabies Clinic, vaccinations are available for $10.00 each at the Cleveland County Animal Services and Adoption Center from Monday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday until 6:00 pm., and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cleveland County Animal Services is located at 1601 Airport Rd, Shelby, NC 28150.
